FRUIT JUICES

Lemon Juice - Rich source of vitamin C, antiseptic, alkalinizer, tonic. For arthritis and other rheumatic disorders, kidney ailments, dropsy, high blood pressure, catarrhs, internal cleansing.
Grapefruit Juice - Digestive tonic, alkalinizer, vitamin source, laxative. For constipation, acidosis, blood diseases, nervous disorders.
Grapefruit Bitters - (Made by grinding or chopping the whole grapefruitâ??peeling, pulp, fruit and seeds - cover with water and allow to stand overnight. Pour off the liquid and drink.) For throat congestion, coughs, faulty digestion, infections.
Orange Juice - Rich source of vitamins, alkalinizer, tonic. For acidosis, intestinal sluggishness, digestive weakness, catarrhs.
Fresh Apple Juice - Digestive aid, solvent, nerve quiet-ant, laxative. For arthritis and rheumatic fevers, gastric and intestinal catarrh, billiousness, constipation, sleeplessness.
Pineapple Juice - Digestive aid, laxative, intestinal disinfectant, solvent, diuretic. For weak stomach, constipation, kidney weakness, nervous asthma.
Prune Juice - Digestive stimulant, laxative. For poor digestion, constipation.

NOTE: We do not recommend that a person confine himself to any one or the juices. Best results will follow the use of several. Vegetable juices can be combined - two or three Juices - into appetizing' cocktails. A little fruit juice can be added to these for flavor. Fruit juices do" not combine with each other. Acid-Forming Foods

Acid-forming foods which should be temporarily eschewed or drastically limited during the alkalinization period are principally meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, fats, white bread, starchy foods, cakes, pastry, candy, white sugar and confections. These foods are not necessarily faulty but should never be taken in proportions far beyond the requirements for body needs.

MODIFIED ALKALINE DIET
(6 to 10-day periods)

For Alkalinization, Blood Purification, Internal Cleansing

Breakfast of one of the following:
(a) Grapefruit or grapefruit juice, honey.
(b) Oranges or orange juice.
(c) Tomato juice,
(d) Soaked sun-dried prunes, peaches, or stewed figs (all very laxative),
(e) Apple or fresh sweet apple juice.

Hour After Breakfast: Large glass of carrot juice, or celery juice, or of the two juices, mixed.

Luncheon:
Vegetable juice cocktail. One of the following:
(a) Raw oatmeal with ground almonds, raisins, cream.
(b) Fruit salad and glass of buttermilk.
(c) Split pea or lima bean soup and green vegetable salad.
(d) Cottage cheese and pineapple salad.

During Afternoon: Fruits as desired. Pint of lemonade (with a little honey to sweeten).

Evening Meal:
Vegetable mineral broth (can be made at home or purchased in powdered form in Health Food Stores - see instructions on page 21); or cream of spinach soup; or home-made, salt-free tomato okra soup.
Green vegetable salad if not eaten at noon (Tomatoes, lettuce, celery, green peppers, finely-shredded cabbage, cucumbers, etc., may be used.) Portions of two of the following vegetables: Carrots, green peas, shredded cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, baked squash, string beans, potato, lima, navy or soy beans.
Rye bread, whole wheat bread or soy bean wafers. Buttermilk or milk.

Dessert - Apple, baked with maple syrup. Dates and almonds. Gelatine Pudding.

Remember that light meals largely of fruits and vegetables assure a minimum of cloying and putrefactive wastes. Be careful of the banquet type of meal.

Okay, since Frankie's trip through the rejuvenator, she's seemed pretty well adjusted to her new image.

"I just don't think about how different I look," she told me yesterday. "It's not as if I spend hours fixing my hair in front of a mirror or anything."

I had to give her credit for taking that point of view. Until today. I accidentally left one of her pictures up on my screen, and I don't think she liked what she saw.

"These new colors make me look fat," Frankie said, with an angry scowl on her face. "I'm going to look for a good diet plan."

I think she may get more than she bargained for if she tries to read this book . . .
